| About me | I am a retired U.S.C.G. Master Chief Machinery Technician (E-9) with over 30 years of marine engineering experience. In the 5 years prior to my retirement I served as a shipyard contracting technical representative for US Coast Guard Pacific Area. I have been in charge of several engineering departments and have accumulated extensive knowledge of shipboard, small boat and shore side maintenance and repair. My experience includes but is not limited to maintenance and repair of Caterpillar, EMD, Fairbanks Morse, Wartsila, MAN B&W, Cooper Bessemer, Cummins, Alco, Detroit and other diesel engines. Outboard engine and small craft maintenance. I have also performed maintenance and repair of the following equipment, G.E. integrated diesel electric propulsion systems, Adjustable speed SCR drives and DC propulsion motors, Ship board automation, Siemens 6.6 KV Switch Gear and power management system, electrical systems, air condition and refrigeration systems, heating, water maker plants, hydraulic, fuel oil and lube oil purifiers, reduction gears, CPP propeller systems, Z drives and thrusters ( Rolls Royce,Wartsila,Lips,Shottel,Brunvoll), ship board control systems, pumps and sanitation systems.
